"Septal bounce".

چکیده
APPEARANCE Appearance: The septal bounce is a paradoxical bouncing motion of the interventricular septum initially directed towards and then away from the left ventricle during early diastole (Fig. 1 and see Video, Supplemental Digital Content 1, which demonstrates characteristic septal bounce on cine SSFP 4-chamber images, http://links.lww.com/JTI/A16). It is accentuated by deep inspiration and reverses with exhalation. Transient leftward shift of the interventricular septum can also be seen with the Mueller maneuver (i.e. forced inspiration against a closed glottis). The septal bounce may at times occur in right ventricular dysfunction related to massive pulmonary embolism or other causes of pulmonary arterial hypertension.

CMR characterization of atrioventricular inflow in constrictive pericarditis - findings of blood impact physiology
Methods We compared SSFP four chamber view images (20 phases per cycle protocol) between 11 surgically-confirmed CP patients and 11 controls. We deconvoluted the mechanics of the septal bounce and correlated it with periods of the cardiac cycle. To demonstrate that the septal bounce is caused by the interaction between the tricuspid inflow and septum we constructed a parameter called the septal...
متن کاملAbnormal diastolic and systolic septal motion following pericardiectomy demonstrated by ciné DENSE MRI
Constrictive pericarditis can lead to paradoxical interventricular septal motion. Displacement encoding with stimulated echoes (DENSE) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) provides a method for quantifying myocardial motion and strain. A case of constrictive pericarditis is presented and the diastolic 'septal bounce' is clearly evident in both anatomical and DENSE ciné MRI images. (See video link t...
متن کاملLattice Boltzmann algorithm for three-dimensional liquid-crystal hydrodynamics.
We describe a lattice Boltzmann algorithm to simulate liquid-crystal hydrodynamics in three dimensions. The equations of motion are written in terms of a tensor order parameter. This allows both the isotropic and the nematic phases to be considered. Backflow effects and the hydrodynamics of topological defects are naturally included in the simulations, as are viscoelastic effects such as shear-...
متن کاملMetastatic signet ring adenocarcinoma: an unusual cause of cardiac constriction.
Pericardial constriction secondary to metastatic adenocarcinoma is exceedingly rare. We present the first recorded case of pericardial constriction secondary to metastatic signet-ring mucinous adenocarcinoma diagnosed by echocardiography. The cornerstones of echocardiographic diagnosis of constriction are the following: interventricular septal bounce phasic with respiration, M-mode recordings o...
متن کاملInteraction of a soliton with a local defect in a fiber Bragg grating
We study the interactions of a Bragg-grating soliton with a localized defect which is a combined perturbation of the grating and refractive index. A family of exact analytical solutions for solitons trapped by the delta-like defect is found. Direct simulations demonstrate that, up to the numerical accuracy available, the trapped soliton is stable at a single value of its intrinsic parameter θ. ...
